Return visit by Russian educationalists

A party of high power educationalists from Moscow will visit the Isle of Man next Monday.

Apple Europe Ltd will lead a delegation of twelve people from Russian schools, education departments and institutes, and information technology centres on a day-long visit to look at ICT within the Department of Education.

The party will visit Dhoon School and Scoill Phurt le Moirrey, tour the Manx Telecomputer bus and attend a presentation by the department.

Isle of Man schools are seen as being at the cutting edge of ICT which has led to educationalists from other countries taking an interest in the Island.

Of particular interest is the "one to one" scheme through which more than 130 pupils at Dhoon and Anagh Coar schools have been issued with Apple Mac laptops for use at home as well as at school.

The visit is a follow up to an earlier one in November 2007.

The Department's ICT adviser Graham Kinrade has addressed audiences of educationalists in several countries on the work done on the Island.
