Members instead agree it should be reviewed in line with the Taxation Strategy
Tynwald members have not supported a motion calling for the reversal of the two percent increase in the higher rate of personal income tax.
It was introduced by the Treasury Minister, Alex Allinson, in last year's Budget as a temporary measure before an NHS levy could be implemented.
However, Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper argued it is no longer a temporary measure:
Dr Allinson said by supporting the motion, it would mean the public had some difficult choices to make and instead proposed an amendment:
Dr Allinson's amendment carried with 15 votes to 12, and the motion was carried as amended.
