Review of Island school catchments

DEC fix on way for Onchan anomaly

School catchment areas around the Island are going to be reviewed following what's been described as an anomaly in Onchan.

It's emerged that 75 reception children are due to start at Onchan Primary School in September - with just 29 pupils registered for nearby Ashley Hill.

 

The Department of Education and Children has now written to parents asking if they would like to move their children to Ashley Hill to make more effective use of the two schools.

 

Minister Graham Cregeen says they will be looking at the whole Island in time - but Onchan with immediate effect:
