Case reaches conclusion
An ongoing court case, which has been very much in the public eye, reached its conclusion today (Mon 1).
Rex the dog was seized by authorities over suspicions he could be a banned breed and has had the threat of execution looming over him since.
More than a year and a half later, after a series of hearings, the court has declared Rex exempt - meaning the dog poses no danger to the family, including young children, he lives with in the UK.
However, people are finding the verdict bittersweet as Rex will not be returning to the island.
The court has ruled for him to remain with the family he has been living with in Essex for the many months during the trial process.
