Some claim they're a potential road hazard
We could be seeing more of the road pods like the ones installed on the route south past Mount Murray.
They are designed to collect information.
However, they have been criticised as a possible road hazard, particularly to motorcyclists.
Infrastructure Minister, Dr Michelle Haywood says they are safe and they are needed to assess work that will be required in the future:
