
Director of Highways Bruce Hannay says the Department of Transport is having to prioritise repairs to the Island’s roads after recent snow and ice.
After being drenched with water, frozen and then stretched by the ice, many road surfaces have been left broken and battered.
Department of Transport work gangs are out and about fixing the damage, but Mr Hannay says it’s a situation which isn’t going to be resolved quickly.
He says the most serious problems are being addressed first with emergency repairs:
