A hand made watch produced in the Isle of Man by renowned horologist Roger W Smith has sold in an online auction for £660,000.

The sum agreed for the timepiece was the second highest to be achieved at auction by a British watchmaker.

Roger Smith OBE honed his craft under the guidance of celebrated horologist the late George Daniels and inherited much of his workshop equipment after his death.

The latest watch to be sold at auction was a Series 1 white gold example, one of eighteen produced in Mr Smith's workshop:
