UK govt's Air Accidents Investigation Branch

An incident which grounded several flights at Ronaldsway Airport last week is being investigated by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

The AAIB investigates civil aircraft accidents and serious incidents within the UK, its overseas territories and crown dependencies.

It works as part of the UK government's Department for Transport.

On Friday afternoon (19 April), a light aircraft lost its undercarriage and was forced to land on the grass of the main runway.

Ronaldsway Airport confirmed no injuries were reported as a result, however it did lead to runway closures for around two hours and the cancellation of several flights.

spokesperson for the AAIB told Manx Radio the agency 'has been notified' and they 'are investigating'.
