MHKs in the South of the Island are due to meet Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw this lunchtime over the closure of wards at Southlands.
The elderly mental infirm facility is to shut its doors because of staff shortages and eight patients will transfer to Thie Menagh in Douglas.
The shock announcement was made at a meeting at Southlands yesterday, and Rushen and Castletown MHKs are holding an urgent meeting this afternoon.
Port Erin Commissioner Lorna McKellar says the difficulties have been caused by staff shortages:
Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital closure 'inconvenient' but 'significant issues' need to be fixed
Four local authorities looking for by-election candidates
Reinstatement of home births 'remains at top of agenda' for Manx Care
Weekend sailings at risk
