The event attracts more than 250 dippers

An event which sees more than 250 dippers and hundreds more supporters is set to get underway on New Year’s Day.

The Santander Splash 2023 will see dippers set out to various beaches in the hopes of raising money for charity.

The Isle of Man Foodbank has been selected to benefit from donations of money and food items this year – it’s hoped more than £69,000 will have been raised for charity in total by the end of the event.

The event is sponsored by Financial Options, Macro Metal, Bushys and Santander International – who have been the main sponsor for the past three years.

Event organiser for Southern Dippers, Lenny Conroy says:

"The Isle of Man Foodbank was an obvious charity for us to support this year as many more Isle of Man residents are turning to the facility for support due to the rise cost of living.

"This year we are asking all dippers to bring an item of food to donate to the Isle of Man Foodbank in hope of helping the charity even further by contributing to the restock of their shelves following the festive period."

Splash times are:

  • 10.00 at Chapel Beach, Port St. Mary
  • 10.45 at Inner Harbour, Port St. Mary
  • 11.30 at Gansey Beach, Port St. Mary
  • 12.15 at Port Erin Beach with a 'fancy dress' theme

The final dip will be followed by a prize presentation at The Bay Hotel.

Peel dippers will be celebrating its 40th anniversary, with the splash time scheduled for 12.00 on Peel Beach.

Participation in Douglas' New Year's Dip requires pre-registration before the event which begins at 9.30 at the Promenade Pavilion.
