A delegation from Peel has seen for itself the operation of an open sewage plant, like the one planned for the town.
Local commissioners joined a team from the Department of Transport on a fact-finding tour to Northern Ireland, where they were shown treatment plants sited close to residential areas.
There's been opposition in Peel to the DoT's plan to put an uncovered sewage plant just outside the town, in the latest phase of the IRIS scheme.
Director of drains for the department Peter Winstanley says the aim of the trip was to allay local concerns:
