Vessel spotted near the Point of Ayre
A ship has run aground off the northern coast of the Island.
The vessel, understood to be known as the CEG ORBIT, has been spotted near the Point of Ayre this morning (26 August).
Isle of Man Coastguard says the ship ran aground at around 2.15am today.
It had been heading towards Belfast from Liverpool.
Police say they and all the relevant agencies are aware of the situation and there are plans to float it off later today.
As a result, a section of beach between Dog Mills and the Phurt, including the Raad-ny-Foillan, is shut between 1pm and 4pm this afternoon whilst the ship is recovered.
