Shoppers pulled teenager away from woman

A teenager who assaulted a woman in front of shoppers in Strand Street has been bailed for sentence.

Frankie Marie Clawson, of Lleannagh Park in Douglas, admitted the offence.

The court heard the 18 year-old crossed Strand Street with her fists clenched when she spotted the woman, at 5pm on February 5.

She punched her in the face twice, grabbed hold of her hair and wouldn't let go.

She was eventually pulled off by passers-by.

Shocked witnesses told the court they had looked on in horror as Clawson attacked the woman, and said her victim had no chance of escape.

Clawson was arrested by police after onlookers had separated her from the other woman.

She told officers she had carried out the assault because her victim deserved it.

Clawson was bailed for sentence until September 1 by the Deputy High Bailiff.
