Singer: cannabis prescriptions would go astray

MHK opposes medicinal use of the drug

Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer says he’s against legalising cannabis for medical purposes – because he doesn’t trust patients not to pass the drug on.

This month in Tynwald, Health Minister Howard Quayle said he had no objections to legally-prescribed cannabis derivatives such as Sativex being given to patients.

Chief Minister Allan Bell backs the move, too, saying people whose conditions are eased by cannabis should not be denied access to it.

Mr Singer, however, says he completely opposes cannabis being legalised and given to patients.
