Talks with DHSC reach successful conclusion
There's now 'adequate funding' for Snaefell Surgery to remain open
In a joint statement with the Department of Health and Social Care, the GP practice in Anagh Coar confirmed it will continue to operate under existing management.
The surgery had warned it would have to close in August after contract funding offered by the DHSC was deemed 'wholly inadequate'.
But following talks with health bosses, and the support of patients and Douglas South MHKS, the practice will now stay open.
Manx Radio has contacted the DHSC to clarify if new financial support arrangements have been put in place.
Practice Manager Robin Hynes says 'we feel reassured enough at present that we have adequate funding to continue to provide the friendly and efficient service'.
More than 5,000 patients are cared for at the surgery, which has added two part time GP partners and an nurse practitioner to its ranks.
