Snow causes disruption around the Island

All the latest closures and cancellations

Snow is causing disruption across the Island.

Two amber weather warnings have been in place, for snow and sleet and for coastal overtopping.

There's also been a yellow weather warning for ice across the Island.

The weather warnings have now been updated.

Weather forecaster Neil Young spoke to Manx Radio at around 1.30pm, and says the situation is improving:

ROADS:

Police say they are dealing with a number of RTCs and are urging people to stay at home.

Quarterbridge Road is open to vehicles travelling north-bound.

Crellins Hill is closed.

The Mountain Road is closed until 11am tomorrow morning. Conditions are deteriorating over the higher routes.

The TT Course from Ballig Bridge to Douglas Road Corner, Kirk Michael is now closed (12:21).

Queens Promenade in Ramsey is also closed (12:21)

Police say St Ninian's Road to Johnny Watterson's lane is bad, and vehicles have been left in situ.

There are sheets of ice on Empire Terrace, Glen Crutchery Road and Ballaquayle Road.

DOUGLAS PROMENADE:

Is now fully open to traffic. There is no walkway parking available. It will close again at 11pm this evening.

SAILINGS:

SPORT: 

All football and hockey matches have been postponed.

The sole rugby fixture scheduled between Vagabonds Hornets and Ramsey B has also been postponed.

VACCINATIONS: 

Government say that Covid-19 vaccinations scheduled for today will go ahead as planned. Anyone with an appointment who feels the weather is too bad should not take any risks to travel, they should call 111 as soon as possible to cancel and arrange a new appointment.

OTHER: 

The Curraghs Wildlife Park is closed.

The Western, Eastern and Northern Amenity Sites and the Southern Recycling Centre are closed.

The Western, Northern and Southern Swimming pools are closed. The NSC is also closed.

The Manx Museum and House of Manannan are both closed.

Roller City and Hoverkart City have closed.
