It comes after a question was put to the DESC Minister in Tynwald about its autumn closure

The Southern Swimming Pool Board says works carried out at the facility during October half term were partially covered from its own fund and a regeneration fund organised by the government.

It comes after a question was put to the Education, Sport and Culture minister in Tynwald about the pool's autumn closure.

In a letter, the board says the DESC's Minor Capital Works Scheme covers the three regional pools and has a total budget of £150,000 - each pool is initially allocated £45,000 with a £15,000 contingency.

It adds that the pool is currently operating within its budget and the maintenance was 'necessary' and scheduled to minimise inconvenience to its customers.

The board says the DESC has stringent criteria for approving funding applications which includes obtaining consultants reports, scopes of work and tendering.

It confirmed it will be making applications to the Minor Capital Works fund to 'address' essential maintenance at the pool.
