Roger Phillips has been officially appointed the new clerk of Tynwald.
Mr Philliips, who is currently a deputy principal clerk in the House of Commons, will also be secretary to the House of Keys and counsel to the Speaker.
He has served on the United Kingdom Justice committee and the British-Irish inter parliamentary body.
In accordance with tradition the proposal was put to the House by the Speaker, Steve Rodan (pictured):
