Sitting dominated by legislation
Members of the House of Keys will hear from their presiding officer this morning (Tues) – as the Speaker delivers a message about their behaviour.
Steve Rodan SHK is due to open today’s sitting with a statement about the conduct of members.
Today’s sitting looks set to be dominated by legislation – there are just two questions on the order paper, one for oral reply and one for written answer.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran will ask Social Care Minister Howard Quayle about alleged tampering with departmental files, while West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas will quiz Chief Minister Allan Bell about a report into Tynwald reform.
MHKs are set to debate a number of new laws today: starting with the National Health and Care Service Bill’s second reading.
At their clauses stage today are the Custody (Amendment ) Bill, Council of Ministers (Amendment) Bill and Local Government and Building Control Bill.
Meanwhile, Legislative Council members will consider Keys amendments on the Road Races Bill and same-sex marriage legislation, with new laws on concessionary travel, equality and preferential payments due to go through their second reading.
