Steam Packet Company will be fit for purpose says Cannan

Work is underway

The Treasury Minister says ensuring the Island has a ferry service fit for purpose going forward is a complex issue - but will be sorted.

The government bought the company earlier this year, from former owners Portuguese parent company Banco Espirito Santo for £124 million.

It's been stated Government will not be involved in the day to day running of the business but a public consultation was launched this week which will help shape the new user agreement with the Company.

Alfred Cannan says he appreciates information may be slow coming out on the future shape of the Steam Packet - but work is underway.
