Senior managers quizzed by Select Committee of Tynwald on the Regulation of the Steam Packet Company
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company believes reducing its services would be 'the way forward' for cutting carbon output.
However, it acknowledges that's only a short-term proposition, and there are alternatives.
Managing Director Brian Thomson says modifying the vessel itself, reducing its services, or using low-carbon fuel are the only ways to minimise the company's carbon emissions.
But he doesn't think the latter will be on the horizon any time soon:
