A red weather warning has been issued for the Island, from late Wednesday afternoon through Thursday (14 - 15 Jan).
The latest forecast says a period of severe weather, including storm force winds is on the way, bringing a high risk of travel disruption and structural damage.
The warning covers a 24 hour period from 5pm today (14 Jan).
Gales developing later this afternoon will grow stronger tonight, up to 75 mph. Heavy rain is also expected this evening, leading to some localised flooding, causing travel difficulties and damage.
Rough seas will splash-over onto exposed coastal roads and promenades near high tide, 5.35pm Wednesday and 6.25am on Thursday.
The Manx Utility Authority is reminding people to report any power outages as poor weather threatens to bring down overhead lines.
The severe weather warning issued for the next 24 hours has prompted the authority to remind people not to tackle faults themselves.
Officials say if you find any damage to the MUA’s electrical equipment, you shouldn't approach it.
