Accused denies assault causing GBH
A court’s heard a late-night street brawl involving two groups of men left one unconscious with a broken jaw.
Twenty-one-year-old Ethan Lamb of Close Quirk in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith at Douglas courthouse.
He pleaded not guilty to a single count of assault causing grievous bodily harm on 21 June.
Prosecution advocate Rachael Braidwood told the court Lamb was part of a group of friends enjoying an evening out in 1886 nightclub on Regent Street in Douglas.
She told the court the two groups had encountered each other in the past and there’d been a history between them.
At around 1.15am that night, CCTV showed a man punching Mr Lamb’s alleged victim to the ground – they needed hospital treatment after their jaw was broken in two places.
When passers-by alerted police, officers found the man unconscious on the floor outside Marks & Spencer.
Mr Arrowsmith bailed Mr Lamb in the sum of £500, and he’s next due to appear in court on 7 January.
