Service tonight to honour victims of 1973 tragedy
There'll be a memorial service tonight to mark the 49th anniversary of the Summerland disaster.
A fire spread through the leisure centre on this day in 1973 while approximately 3,000 people were inside.
Fifty people were killed and 80 injured.
The service will take place in the Kaye Memorial Garden on Queen's Promenade at 7pm, with members of the public invited to attend.
Douglas Mayor Janet Thommeny will preside at the service, alongside Reverend Dr Michael Brydon who'll offer prayers before a minute's silence.
Ms Thommeny will deliver a speech before laying a wreath at the foot of the memorial.
