Surprise donation to council funds

Ratepayers in the Island's capital are to benefit from an unusual bequest, from a man in Edinburgh.

Before he died, Eric Gordon Douglas looked through an atlas and arranged to divide a sum of around £220,000 equally between each of the 20 places he found which shared his surname!
