
The Chairman of the Manx Taxi Federation has criticised the recent fare increase of 5.9%, for being too low.
Ray Teare says fuel costs have risen by about 20% over the past year, and even since the fare figure was agreed, diesel has gone up by another three pence.
Mr Teare (pictured) says taxi drivers will be hit hard.
And he doesn't believe many will be willing to negotiate lower fares with customers, as the Road Transport Licensing Committee's Keith Watterson suggested could be done, if there were complaints:
