Teen drug dealer caught using mobile apps to peddle drugs

Police found £23k in 18-year-old's bank account

A Douglas drug dealer who used mobile apps to peddle cannabis was caught out after putting tens of thousands of pounds through his bank account.

Eighteen-year-old Jared Kenneth Ramsey Forsythe, of Ballakermeen Drive, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.

He admitted converting criminal property, transferring it, possessing cannabis with intent to supply and being concerned in supplying the class B drug.

Detectives began investigating after Forsythe deposited large amounts of cash into his account and sent payments to accounts in the UK.

Officers discovered around £23,000 in suspicious cash and raided Forsythe's home.

There they found £278 worth of cannabis and an iPhone – when police searched the phone they uncovered messages on Snapchat and Telegram offering drugs for sale.

Forsythe will be sentenced in the Court of General Gaol Delivery - he was bailed until his next court appearance on 6 May.
