Temporary speed limits in force on lower TT course next week

Restrictions will be in place for eight weeks

Temporary speed limits will come into force on the lower TT course for eight weeks from Monday (11 March).

It's to allow for DoI contractors to safely carry out preparation work ahead of the road racing season.

Routine highway maintenance will also be undertaken.

The 40mph limit will apply to the following roads:

The A1 Douglas to Peel Road:

  • The sections ordinarily derestricted from a speed limit between the existing 40mph speed limit signs on the western side of Union Mills and the existing 30mph speed limit signs on the eastern side of the Ballacraine traffic lights.
  • The section ordinarily subject to a 50mph speed limit between the eastern side of Greeba Castle bends and the western side of Greeba Bridge.

The A3 Ballacraine to Ramsey Road:

  • The section ordinarily subject to a 60mph speed limit between the northern side of Ballacraine and the northern side of Lambfell Farm.
  • The sections ordinarily derestricted from a speed limit between the existing 60mph speed limit signs on the northern side of Lambfell Farm and the existing 40mph speed limit signs on the southern side of Sulby Village.
  • The section ordinarily subject of a 50mph speed limit between the northern side of Sulby Village at the Ginger Hall and the existing 30mph speed limit signs on the southern side of Ramsey Town Boundary.

The A18 Mountain Road:

  • The section ordinarily derestricted from a speed limit between its junction with the Creg Ny Baa Back Road and the section ordinarily subject to a 40mph speed limit at Hillberry.

The restrictions will be in place from 6am on 11 March until 6pm on 10 May.
