Third sector plays down health budget fears

Charities already responding to financial constraints

David Gawne has played down fears the third sector will be hit hard by budget cuts in the health department.

The chairman of the Council of Voluntary Organisations was speaking as a consultation on the future of healthcare services on the Island draws to a close.

On Wednesday morning's Mandate programme, he said some third sector provisions had to be restructured to ensure value for money.

But Mr Gawne rejected the idea they're the first to be axed when the purse strings tighten:
