Thresher shark spotted

If you see an animal you don't recognise in the sea around the Island, don't forget to tell someone!

That's the advice from the Manx Wildlife Trust after a rare shark species was spotted recently.

The Thresher shark hasn't been recorded in Manx waters for 90 years but has been seen again off the Calf of Man.

Marine officer for the Manx Wildlife Trust, Eleanor Stone, says people could have seen Thresher sharks over the years .and there could be other as yet un-logged species.

However, if people don't report their sightings then they go unnoticed.

You can log sightings with the Manx Wildlife Trust, the Fisheries Officers at DEFA or Manx National Heritage and if you can take a photo all the better!
