IOM behind other jurisdictions in terms of equality
There's to be a bid to increase diversity in the Island's upper parliament next year.
Tynwald will be seeking new members to join the Legislative Council in 2018.
One of a number of reforms, passed in the court yesterday following the Lisvane Report, focuses on the lack of representation among unelected MLCs.
The Council currently has just one permanent female member, recently-appointed solicitor Jane Poole-Wilson.
That statistic puts the Isle of Man far behind neighbouring jurisdictions in terms of equality.
She told Tynwald that ought to change:
Government plans to withdraw interest from reserve fund no longer required
Peel Commissioners not adding 'discretionary' one percent increase to social housing rents
CoMin 'recognises and is mindful' of minimum wage concerns
