Tours go behind the scenes at Island railways

There’ll be a chance to see parts of the Island’s railway network which are usually closed to the public over the next two weekends.

Isle of Man Railways is taking part in Heritage Open Days organised by Manx National Heritage, offering behind-the-scenes tours of the steam railway and Manx Electric Railway workshops.

There are tours of the MER’s Derby Castle workshops in Douglas this Saturday (5 October) and the steam railway workshops at the station in Douglas on Sunday.

Meanwhile, next weekend it's reversed, with steam on Saturday and MER on Sunday.

The vintage rail visits are among 60 open day events around the Island, a chance to view buildings, artefacts and landscapes usually closed to the public.
