TravelWatch disbands citing ageing members and banking charges

Watchdog had campaigned for action on passenger issues since 2007

Isle of Man passenger lobby group TravelWatch has ended its operations - citing upcoming charity banking charges and ageing members as reasons.

The watchdog has, since 2007, campaigned for action against passenger issues arising from air, sea and on Island.

In a post on its website it says it's closing for a number of reasons including progress made with core issues and the declining numbers and age of its members.

It also adds the 'complications of running a charity under new regulations is very burdensome on a small organisation and the recent threatened charges to be levied by the Isle of Man Bank are excessive'.

TravelWatch says it's grateful for the people and organisations which have supported its work over the last 15 years.

The group's remaining funds have been handed over to Manx Citizens Advice as part of the dissolution process.
