Trial for man accused of assaulting 10-year-old

29-year-old denies triple assault at park in Castletown

A Colby man will stand trial after being accused of assaulting a 10-year-old boy at a play area.

Anthony James Scaddan, of Station Park, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.

The 29-year-old also denied assaulting another man, and a police officer, during the same incident at Rheast Barrule in Castletown on 23 October.

A pre-trial review will take place on 11 January; he’s been bailed until that date.

Update: At Douglas Courthouse on 11 January the charges of assault - against the man and boy - were withdrawn by the prosecution. No evidence was also offered on a charge of criminal damage.

Scaddan admitted a replacement charge of provoking behaviour and will be sentenced for that, and for assaulting a police officer, on 14 March.
