Not guilty plea to assault charge
A Sulby man who's accused of putting his son in a headlock, and punching him in the face, will stand trial next year.
Forty-year-old Daniel Carl Sayle, of Ballabrooie, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.
He pleaded not guilty to assault.
Sayle was drinking in the Sulby Glen Hotel, on 19 November, when he's said to have argued with his son who was working behind the bar.
It's claimed Sayle threw a glass at his son, narrowly missing him, before launching the attack – putting him in a headlock and punching him up to nine times in the head.
The barman allegedly cut himself on the broken glass and needed to go to hospital for treatment.
After he left Sayle admitted going into the pub's car park and using a pickaxe to destroy a £1,100 mountain bike belonging to his son.
He was bailed and will next appear in court on 1 February.
