'TT costs 100,000 Euros but I'm addicted to it' says Croatian racer

TT 2026 is officially underway.

Yesterday (25 May) racers took to the Mountain Course in perfect conditions for the first practice and qualifying session.

The fortnight of motorcycle racing is expected to generate millions of pounds for the Manx economy as the Island welcomes thousands of motorsport fans.

But closer to the track the event comes at huge cost for some racers.

Croatian rider Loris Majcan will contest the two Monster Energy Supersport races this year for the Bihui Yamaha Racing Team.

He had originally planned to contest the two Carole Nash Sportbike races but due to ‘budget constraints’ those plans have been postponed to 2027.

It’s his third year at the event:

AJ Venter is South Africa’s leading international road racing talent and the fastest South African around the TT Course.

AJ Venter has been travelling to the Island for the last decade; this year he’ll make his 50th TT start.

He’s being sponsored this year by FuturExotics:

Craig Szczypek is a privateer - he told Manx Radio despite the cost being on the Island at this time of year is ‘special’:
