TT Zero launched - XGP dropped

A second 'green' TT race WILL be held this year.
But it has a new name - the race on Wednesday June 9 in race week will be called TT Zero.

The XGP title has been dropped, along with the company behind it.

The Department of Tourism and Leisure will promote the race as part of the core TT programme.

But organisers are going it alone, without Aszhar Hussein, the brainchild of last year's inaugural event.

It's been evident there have been tensions between the race organisers ACU events Ltd and Mr Hussein over who makes the rules.

The 2009 XGP was heralded as a big step forward in the development of clean emissions motorsport and, with teams using the latest clean emissions technology, it attracted interest from around the world.

Qualifying practice sessions will be held on Saturday, June 5 and Monday, June 7.
