No clean emissions race for next two years
The TT Zero race has been dropped from the schedule for the next two years.
The Department for Enterprise describes the move as a moratorium, saying running the clean emissions contest and riders has become "increasingly challenging".
It says it will talk to teams and manufacturers about how the race can be developed and expand the class.
The latter point has been picked up by critics who say participation levels have remained disappointing.
Nevertheless, there have been some notable landmarks with the 100mph lap challenge taken by Michael Rutter on Motoczysz machinery in 2012.
It also earned a £10,000 prize from the Isle of Man Government.
Since then, Japanese firm Mugen has dominated and the lap record is now just shy of 122mph.
But the number taking part has always been relatively low - there were 7 finishers from 9 starters at this year's event.
