Figures on bullying in Island schools revealed
There have been some 23 recorded 'cases' of bullying in Island schools in the last five years, according to the education department.
That figure was revealed in a written response in the House of Keys this week, following a question from Jason Moorhouse MHK.
He wanted to know how many bullying cases there had been over that period, involving students, teaching staff, and others.
Five of those 23 incidents involved teaching staff, with 17 involving students.
One was categorised as 'other'.
The department says it has interpreted 'cases' to mean 'complaints', and that the figures relate to those mentioned in a complaint - "whether or not this is the substantive issue being considered."
