Bereavement group raising funds for mental health charities

A man swimming around the Island in support of mental health charities says his goal is to see a 'zero suicide Isle of Man'.

David Higson and Marc Purcell from Bereaved Survivors of Suicide Isle of Man, are embarking on the challenge to raise money for Cruse Isle of Man, New View, Isle listen, Reach, Martin Gallier Trust, and Stamp out Suicide.

Starting last week, the pair will be swimming around the Island in stages until Autumn.

"I found it hard to carry on with life at times. It's a devastating shock."

David lost his son Martin to suicide in June 2018, and wants people to know that help is always available:

You can find Bereaved Survivors of Suicide Isle of Man's JustGiving page here.

So far they've raised more than £2,500.

May 9 - 15 marks Mental Health Awareness Week.
