Tynwald resumes this morning after summer recess

Tynwald resumes this morning after the summer recess.

A weighty order paper awaits members, with a number of statements, financial motions and reports to consider.

Before that the question paper will be the focus of attention.

There are 34 questions for oral answer this morning, with some familiar subjects making a return....the future of the Nunnery site and concerns over the consultants who carried out the National Insurance and Benefits review to name but a couple.

More topical issues include the closure of some Isle of Man bank branches and questions over the ongoing Big Debate.

When it comes to the main order paper, there is a call for nearly eight-million pounds of spending for various projects including the TETRA radio upgrade, work on part of the Manx Electric Railway network and the construction of a hazardous waste facility.

The countryside care scheme, a report into the care and upbringing of children and the policing standards debate held over from July will also be considered.

Tynwald will be broadcast live on Manx Radio's AM1368 frequency starting at 10:30 this morning.
