Clarity sought on Manx stance on medicinal canabis
UK regulations allowing for the prescription of cannabis-based medicines in specific circumstances do apply to the Isle of Man.
HM Attorney General outlined in Tynwald this morning (11 Dec) that recent rescheduling of the drug does in fact extend to the crown dependencies.
It comes after Ramsey member Dr Alex Allinson sought clarity on the matter in the court.
In October, British Secretary of State Sajid Javid announced changes to the licensing of cannabis, following a series of high profile cases involving children with epilepsy.
The provision to prescribe, which is limited to doctors on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council, came into effect last month.
