
A senior figure in the local fishing industry says fishermen from the Island who were unable to work recently will never make up the earnings they lost.
Until last Friday, Manx boats more than 15 metres in length were tied up in port, due to rules designed to conserve scallop stocks in the Irish Sea.
Bill Caley of Isle of Man Seafoods says fishermen are trying to make up for lost time and the fishing at present is good.
However, the short-term future remains uncertain:
