'Unsavoury' behaviour on night out costs PSM woman £750

23-year-old admits being drunk and disorderly

A Port St Mary woman’s night out has ended up costing her more than £750 after she became involved in a dispute in a pub.

Abby Alisha Kelly, of High Street, was spotted hitting and pushing a fellow patron in The British, on North Quay in Douglas, on 10 September.

The 23-year-old then became argumentative with security staff and began pushing them.

Police found Kelly on Market Hill shortly after 11pm in a ‘somewhat dishevelled’ state.

She was loud and aggressive and ignored repeated requests to leave the area and go home.

After attempting to obstruct the arrest of her friend Kelly was also arrested and taken to Police Headquarters.

She later admitted displaying disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.

During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse Kelly’s advocate described the offending as ‘unfortunate’ adding: “Miss Kelly needlessly got involved in someone else’s situation.”

“In terms of her attitude this is one of shame, regret and embarrassment.” – Ian Kermode (Advocate)

Fining Kelly, and ordering her to pay £125 in prosecution costs, Magistrates described the events of the night as ‘unsavoury’.

“We note this is your first appearance in court,” they told her: “Please make it your last. Make this a one-off and acknowledge your mistake.”
