There are growing concerns over the exclusion of a significant public sector pension scheme from the review which is currently taking place.
Administrators of the fund for former local government employees say they are currently looking at a £17 million shortfall, or 'black hole', and the current cost of the scheme to Douglas ratepayers alone is £800,000 a year.
Douglas Borough Council runs the scheme for all 24 of the Island's local authorities, and has written to the local government minister asking for an urgent meeting.
