Urgent questions on bluetongue and Family Library in Tynwald

Members prepare to get May's sitting underway

Tynwald members will be faced with two urgent questions when they start their May session today (Tuesday, May 20).

One concerns the funding and possible closure of the Family Library.

The other asks for more details about restrictions being introduced at Heysham Port following the outbreak of bluetongue cattle disease.

Thoughts will be on the TT, less than a week away, with Heysham being the main port into the Island.

Those two inquiries are followed by five starred priority questions.

The subjects range from whether Manx National Heritage has enough cash to fully open its heritage sites, to Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

The main question paper starts with an inquiry from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse about actions the Island would take if faced with a cyber attack.

Other inquiries run from when a health department supplementary vote for more money will come before Tynwald - to prescriptions for weight loss injections.

Also; the number of pupils suspended from schools and the final cost for the Liverpool Landing Stage.

And the final question, should it be reached; the thoughts of the chief minister on the UK-USA trade Agreement .

You can listen to today's Tynwald proceedings from 10am via Manx Radio AM 1368, DAB, online or via the Manx Radio smartphone app.
