Figures compared to final quarter of 2020
A Manx charity says it's seen a 71 per cent increase in referrals for victims of sexual assault.
Victim Support recorded the increase between October and December last year – it’s compared to the same period in 2020.
The charity helps people on the Island who have been victims of crime.
Marketing officer Amber Oakley says while the figures mark a stark increase it's also a sign that more people may be becoming aware of the help available:
On 11 February the charity will host its annual 'Dress in Yellow Day' - to help raise awareness of sexual abuse.
It's hoped at least 30-40 businesses will take part this year.
