Victim Support: 'No World Cup match result should put you at risk of domestic abuse'

Charity running campaign during international football tournament

A Manx charity says no match result during the FIFA World Cup should ever put someone at risk of domestic abuse.

Whilst no local data is available incidents of abuse in the UK have been seen to go up by as much as 38 percent if England lose a football game.

They can also increase even if the team win or draw.

Thomas Tuchel's side beat Croatia in their opening game of the tournament last night. 

In a targeted campaign around the international competition Victim Support Isle of Man says it's time to 'challenge the excuses' and learn that 'abuse is never acceptable'.
