Villa-Gaiety decision for next government

Discount 'to stay' for amateur groups

The future operation of the Villa-Gaiety complex will be for the next administration to decide.

DED Minister Laurence Skelly confirmed the position in the House of Keys (10 May) while answering a question from Onchan MHK Peter Karran.

Mr Skelly said that while the tender process will continue through the summer, no decision will be taken before September's General Election.

A Prior Information Notice (PIN) has been issued and three off-Island companies are understood to be interested in bidding to run the complex on behalf of government.

Mr Skelly confirmed that under any new agreement, local amateur groups will continue to receive discount on the hire prices:
