'We were never going to get it 100 per cent right' - Health Minister

Admits lessons can be learnt over pandemic handling

The health minister has said he welcomes 'scrutiny' over government's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

David Ashford gave evidence to a Public Accounts Committee this week where he was quizzed about genomic sequencing, the cost of PCR testing and the fallout with a lead scientist. 

Committee member Chris Robertshaw told him he believed government should have been more flexible and less 'thin-skinned'.
